Saint Laurent Commands Winter 2025 with Bold, Powerful Shoulders

Saint Laurent

Saint Laurent’s winter 2025 collection had one clear theme that stood out: huge, strong shoulders. Models walked around a large oval onyx floor, showing off many different clothes featuring big, bold shoulders. These shoulders appeared on bright ’80s-style power suits, large oversized coats, and soft, flexible leather jackets. The overall look was powerful and confident, making a strong statement with every outfit.

The creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, wanted to create strong shapes in this collection. Instead of using heavy decorations or padding to make the shoulders big, he focused on how the fabric was cut and tailored to shape the clothes perfectly. The show notes explained that the clean shapes and volumes came from the way the clothes were made and cut, not added decorations.

To make these shapes stand out even more, Saint Laurent used bright and rich colors. For example, there was a bright orange jacket paired with a deep purple belt, and the same jacket also appeared in a rich dark pink color. One green minidress had very large shoulders, a shiny jeweled collar, and practical pockets, styled with black leather gloves. This collection was definitely not simple or plain—it was bold, dramatic, and eye-catching.

Along with the ’80s-inspired shapes, Vaccarello experimented with different fabrics and textures. Some dresses had animal and floral prints that were coated with shiny silicone, giving them a modern and glossy look.

Others were made with guipure lace in warm colors like burnt orange and deep navy blue. Bella Hadid wore one of these lace dresses on the runway, which was a special moment because it was the only fashion show she walked this season.

To add a casual and sporty touch, some outfits included panels made of comfortable fabric, creating a mix of styles. Bella Hadid’s appearance was a big highlight, and the front row was just as exciting when supermodel Linda Evangelista showed up wearing a sharp suit that looked both like business and mobster style.

Usually, Saint Laurent’s show opens Paris Fashion Week, but this time it was the last show of the season, making these moments feel like a grand celebration to end the fashion month.

Accessories played an important role in the collection. Many outfits were paired with bold sunglasses and chunky jewelry, especially featuring rock crystal, a stone Yves Saint Laurent believed was lucky.

The show ended with models wearing gowns that had huge, ballroom-style skirts that bounced and moved beautifully as they walked. Such big skirts are rare to see in ready-to-wear collections, and even rarer to see without looking like princess dresses.

But Saint Laurent avoided that look by mixing the skirts with lacy bustier tops, large sweaters, and casual leather jackets. This combination gave a perfect balance of classic elegance and modern, edgy style. Big bows hung from the waists of the skirts, adding extra drama, while models confidently kept their hands in the large cargo pockets of their jackets, showing attitude and coolness.

If the goal was to create strong and unforgettable shapes that grab attention, Anthony Vaccarello and Saint Laurent definitely succeeded. These clothes don’t just look powerful—they take up space and refuse to be ignored. In today’s world, where women’s fashion is about confidence and showing power, this collection sends a clear message wear your clothes proudly, take up space.
